Category:Particle Physics
This category collects work on elementary particles — what they are, whether they have structure, and how their properties and interactions should be accounted for.
The standard treatment is the Standard Model: point-like quarks and leptons interacting by gauge boson exchange, with properties such as spin and magnetic moment as intrinsic and unexplained attributes. The work collected here largely rejects that starting point, on the grounds that a dimensionless point cannot possess spin, magnetic moment, finite mass or measured extent in any physically intelligible way.
Entries include structural and geometric particle models, classical derivations of particle properties and mass ratios, critiques of the quark model and of the particle zoo, alternative accounts of the strong and weak interactions, and analyses of accelerator and scattering results. See also Category:Toroidal Ring, Category:Structure, Category:Nuclear Structure and Category:Quantum Theory.
