The Collapsing Universe is a 1985 monograph by the physicist Lars Wåhlin, published by Colutron Research (Boulder, Colorado).

Overview

Wåhlin presents an alternative cosmological picture in which the observed cosmological redshift is not due to expansion but to other physical processes, framing the universe in terms of gravitation and a finite structure rather than an expanding Big-Bang model. The ideas were later expanded into his textbook The Deadbeat Universe (1997), covering cosmology, gravitation, time, relativity, and quantum physics.

About the author

Lars Wåhlin is a Swedish-American physicist and founder of the Colutron Research Corporation (known for ion-beam instrumentation), who has written on gravitation and an alternative, non-expanding cosmology.
