Computer Worship is a 1973 book by the electronics engineer and writer Ivor Catt, published by Pitman.

Overview

The book is a critical, polemical examination of society's uncritical faith in computers and in the institutions that build and promote them. Drawing on Catt's own experience in the computer and electronics industry, it argues that bureaucratic and commercial pressures, rather than sound engineering or genuine need, drive much of the computer enterprise — a theme continuous with his industrial critique in The Catt Concept: The New Industrial Darwinism.

About the author

Ivor Catt (1935–2024) was a British electronics engineer known for pioneering work on high-speed digital interconnection and wafer-scale integration, and for a long-running critique of conventional electromagnetic theory. See also his Digital Hardware Design.
