Wil Wakely (Wilbur T. Wakely, born 1 May 1931) is an American ceramic engineer and independent researcher based in San Diego, California, who describes himself as a "Quantum physics dabbler".
Biography
Wakely was born on 1 May 1931 and formerly lived in Traverse City, Michigan, before settling in San Diego, California. He worked as a ceramic engineer and is now retired from that profession.
Outside of engineering, Wakely's interests include computer programming, glass blowing, chess and golf. He served as past president of the Seniors Computer Group of San Diego, a member organization of the International Association of Technology and Computer Users.
Work
Wakely pursues quantum physics as an independent, self-described amateur researcher, and is a long-standing enthusiast for space science and unidentified aerial phenomena. He has been a leading figure in the San Diego chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), organizing its meetings and speaking publicly on the subject; in July 2019 he lectured on "UFOs in the Modern Era" in Vista, California.
A major collecting interest of his has been the Hubble Space Telescope. His assembled documentation on the telescope and related space topics forms the Wilbur T. Wakely Personal Papers, held in the archives of the San Diego Air & Space Museum.
