Valentin Danci is a Toronto-based independent researcher with an engineering background who works on the foundations of physics, particularly the special and general theories of relativity. Since 2013 he has focused his research on a critical re-examination of Albert Einstein's special relativity theory, and he is the author of the Neo-Classical Theory of Relativity (NCTR), which he proposes as an alternative framework for describing the relationship between electrodynamics and mechanics.

Biography

Danci is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He came to physics from an engineering background and works as an independent researcher rather than within a mainstream academic institution. Beginning around 2013, he directed his research toward the logical and mathematical foundations of Einstein's special and general theories of relativity, publishing a series of papers and developing the online Neo-Classical Theory of Relativity project.

Work

Danci's published work centres on what he describes as logical and mathematical inconsistencies in Einstein's 1905 formulation of special relativity. He argues that Einstein's derivation combines the postulate of the constancy of the speed of light with reasoning that also treats the speed of light as variable, and he criticizes the clock-synchronization method used in the derivation. In one paper he enumerates what he identifies as nineteen distinct postulates underlying special relativity, and he presents arguments intended to show that the theory cannot consistently make use of the Lorentz transformation.

The Neo-Classical Theory of Relativity is presented as an alternative intended to provide, in Danci's words, "better explanations and correct mathematical relations" between the models used in electrodynamics and mechanics. The project includes written papers together with three-dimensional animated simulations that illustrate his arguments.

Danci's criticisms of special relativity represent a minority position that is not accepted by the mainstream physics community.
