Scott A. Mainwaring is an American consultant and philanthropist based in Helena, Montana, who is known within Electric Universe circles as a principal supporter and co-founder of the SAFIRE Project, an experimental effort to test the Electric Sun model.
Biography
Mainwaring resides in Helena, Montana, where he has worked as a consultant and part-time lecturer. He is the son of Bruce Mainwaring, a longtime advocate of the Electric Universe idea, and together they have directed the Mainwaring Archive Foundation, the philanthropic vehicle through which the family has funded independent scientific research.
Mainwaring became involved in Electric Universe research after attending the 2012 Electric Universe conference, where he encountered the proposal of engineer Montgomery Childs to build an apparatus capable of testing the Electric Sun hypothesis empirically.
Work
Mainwaring recognized in Montgomery Childs' proposal a pragmatic, empirical method for testing the Electric Universe hypothesis, and in particular the Electric Sun model. He introduced the proposal to his father, Bruce Mainwaring, and the two decided to support the initiative through the Mainwaring Archive Foundation.
The resulting effort became the SAFIRE Project, which sought to reproduce and study, in the laboratory, plasma conditions resembling those proposed for the Sun. The project proceeded through a bench-top proof-of-concept phase, a full-scale laboratory phase built around the "SAFIRE Plasma Engine," and subsequent research into the molecular and atomic-scale reactions observed in its plasma environments. Beyond financing the work, Mainwaring consulted regularly with Childs and contributed hands-on assistance during construction of the Phase 2 apparatus.
The SAFIRE Project was later carried forward as a commercial enterprise under Aureon Energy Ltd.
