Physics as a Science is the 1998 proceedings volume of the "International Meeting on Empirically Correct Science" held in Cologne, Germany, on 25–30 August 1997. It was edited by Georg Galeczki, Peter Marquardt, and J. P. Wesley (with Umberto Bartocci) and published by Hadronic Press.
Overview
The volume collects papers from a gathering of physicists and scholars critical of aspects of relativistic physics, arguing for a physics grounded firmly in empirical evidence and classical, causal reasoning. Contributions treat the foundations of special and general relativity, electrodynamics, the action–reaction principle, and related questions, representing a strand of the late-twentieth-century German and international dissident-physics community. It was the first of a short series of such meetings (Cologne 1997 and 2000; Lanzarote 2002).
About the editors
Georg (George) Galeczki and Peter Marquardt were German-based physicists and co-authors of Requiem für die Spezielle Relativität ("Requiem for Special Relativity"); J. Paul Wesley (1921–2007) was an American theoretical physicist and advocate of neo-classical physics (see Ecophysics: The Application of Physics to Ecology); Umberto Bartocci is an Italian mathematician and historian of science.
