Oyang Teng is an American science writer and researcher associated with the LaRouche movement, the Schiller Institute, and the science-research group known as the "Basement Team." His work has appeared in 21st Century Science & Technology Magazine and in Executive Intelligence Review (EIR).
Biography
Teng became active in the LaRouche Youth Movement and its associated science-research team during the 2000s. As part of that team, he participated in public presentations and internet-radio programs, including segments of The LaRouche Show devoted to human cognition and to space exploration. He has interviewed Laurence Hecht, editor of 21st Century Science & Technology, on subjects including the Manhattan Project, the Fusion Energy Foundation, and the structure of the atomic nucleus.
Work
Teng contributed to the Schiller Institute research report The Extended Sensorium (2011), which examined sensory capacities in animals and humans that extend beyond the conventional five senses. His chapter "Synesthesia: Beyond the Five Senses" argued that sense perception cannot be neatly divided into five distinct categories, and he also wrote on insects' use of infrared emissions as a form of "smell."
He co-authored "NAWAPA, from the Standpoint of Biospheric Development" (August 2010) with Sky Shields, Michelle Lerner, Cody Jones, and Ben Deniston, and wrote "Onward to Mars: The Triumph of the Weak Forces" (May 2010). His earlier writing for EIR included "Video Games and the Wars of the Future" (2007). His articles reflect the LaRouche movement's positions on science, technology, and long-range infrastructure and space policy.
