Michael Clarage is an American physicist and astrophysicist known for his role as a lead scientist on the SAFIRE Project and as a frequent speaker for the Electric Universe community associated with the Thunderbolts Project. His public work spans physics, philosophy, art and religion.
Biography
Clarage received his Ph.D. in physics from Brandeis University in 1992, where his research examined the biological and statistical behavior of proteins. Prior to his doctoral studies he spent several years studying binary pulsars at the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico.
Over the following years he presented public lectures on subjects including relativity and dimensions, metaphysics in biology, transformation in supernovae, and metamorphosis in biology. With his brother he also delivered traveling lectures on fractional calculus, fractals and chaotic systems. He has been associated with the Ronin Institute in Montclair, New Jersey.
Work
Clarage serves as a lead scientist with the SAFIRE Project, an experimental effort investigating models of the Sun. In that role he collates, analyzes and compares data acquired from the project's experiments against data from sources such as NASA, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), the Solar Dynamics Observatory, the Voyager probes, and the Rosetta mission sensors.
He is a regular presenter at Electric Universe conferences organized by the Thunderbolts Project, where he has given talks comparing gravitational and electrical models of the Sun, on the SAFIRE experiment as an astrophysical laboratory, and on the Earth's electric environment. He describes his broader interests in terms of a "living cosmos" and an electric approach to understanding natural phenomena.
