James Noel Robb (March 7, 1942 – August 5, 2023) was an American farmer, U.S. Army radar technician, amateur radio operator, and independent researcher from Danville, Kansas. He pursued self-directed investigations in Electromagnetism, Vortex Theory, biophotonics, and Bioenergy, and held the amateur radio callsign KD0CBW.
Biography
Robb was born on March 7, 1942, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Noel Neville Robb and Pauline Louise (Hallman) Robb. From an early age he was drawn to science and technology, becoming an avid reader of Popular Mechanics and an enthusiastic builder of science-fair projects.
Drafted into the United States Army the day before his 25th birthday, Robb trained at the U.S. Army Signal School and served in Vietnam for 19 months and 27 days as a specialist in radar technology (military occupational specialty 26D20, GCA Radar R&M). He was honorably discharged on March 5, 1973 with the rank of Specialist.
Returning to Kansas, Robb farmed the family land near Danville, working as a pioneer farmer from 1968 to 2023. He was also a licensed amateur radio operator under the callsign KD0CBW.
Robb died on August 5, 2023, near Danville while storm spotting and checking his rain gauges. A memorial service was held on August 19, 2023 at Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church in Harper, Kansas, with inurnment at Fairview Cemetery, Danville.
Work
Outside of farming, Robb worked as an independent researcher, drawing on his Army background in radar and electronics. His stated areas of interest included electromagnetism, vortex theory, biophotonics, and bioenergy. He presented himself as an independent researcher rather than an affiliate of an academic institution.
Honors
For his military service, Robb received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and two Overseas Bars.
