Holger Isenberg is a German computer scientist and independent researcher known for his work on the calibration and interpretation of Mars surface images, as well as for his interest in ancient engineering, Egyptology, Archeology, Geopolymer construction and the Expanding Earth hypothesis.

Biography

Isenberg holds a master's-degree equivalent (Diplom) in computer science from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. Since 1999 he has worked in the operation and consultation of Java-based enterprise applications in Germany. In 2016 he relocated to Silicon Valley, where he has worked on technical challenges at a company specializing in high-performance Java platforms. He is the founder of Areo Info LLC, which is dedicated to presenting Mars in more accurate colors.

Work

Isenberg applies software-engineering methods to public data provided by spaceflight missions. He maintains a Mars images website and developed the areoHDR application, using image data returned by robotic landing missions to study the appearance of the Martian surface and sky. A central theme of his work is the color calibration of Mars surface images and the question of how the planet's environment should be rendered for human viewers.

He has presented his research at several conferences of the Mars Society, including a talk titled "Blue Skies Research, or Curiosity-Driven Science Applied to Mars Surface Images" at the 19th Annual International Mars Society Convention and a presentation on color calibration for Mars at the 20th convention. He has also spoken at the International Space Development Conference (ISDC).

Beyond Mars imaging, Isenberg writes about ancient engineering and construction methods on Earth, including geopolymer theories of hardstone and pyramid construction, and about the Expanding Earth hypothesis. His writing advocates logic and multidisciplinary reasoning over what he characterizes as dogmatic approaches in Egyptology and archeology.
