Francis Michel Sanchez is a French physicist and author known for an unorthodox cosmological programme he calls "Coherent Cosmology." He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ideas
Sanchez rejects the standard Big Bang model and the special role assigned to the speed of light in relativity. In its place he proposes a "holographic" and "computing" picture of the cosmos in which the universe behaves like a vast information-processing system, with structures at different scales (universe, star, molecule) linked by cosmic oscillations. He argues that a "two-step" gravito-electromagnetic interaction replaces the conventional propagating photon, and invokes super-luminal ("tachyonic") gravitational signalling, citing the work of Tom Van Flandern.
A central feature of his writing is a set of "large-number" numerical coincidences relating fundamental constants — the electron, proton and hydrogen masses, the Planck mass and the fine-structure constant — which he interprets as evidence for a "Grandcosmos" whose dimensions follow from a holographic analysis. He is also associated with historical-priority arguments crediting Henri Poincaré (rather than Einstein) with special relativity.
These proposals lie well outside mainstream physics and cosmology, which do not accept super-luminal gravitation, the numerological constant relations, or the rejection of the Big Bang. Sanchez has circulated his work through conference notes, the General Science Journal, and preprint archives.
