Eniko Magyari (published as E. Magyari) was a Hungarian engineer and researcher known for an alternative theory of gravitation in which gravitational acceleration is treated as the result of a pressure effect rather than an attractive force. They are listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ideas
In January 1959 Magyari, described as a doctor and engineer, published a gravitation theory under the heading "Energy and power transfer by penetration". The central claim is that gravitational acceleration arises as a consequence of a pressure effect acting on bodies, an approach belonging to the tradition of mechanical (pushing) explanations of gravity rather than to the field description of general relativity. Magyari also connected this picture to problems in quantum mechanics.
Contemporary accounts report that Magyari presented experiments and commentary on the "new physics" around the solar eclipse of 15 February 1961 in Budapest. These proposals lie outside the accepted physics of gravitation and were not adopted by the mainstream scientific community.
