Work
Under the name Elizabeth Bauer, they co-authored the book Inside the Photon: A Journey to Health (World Scientific / Jenny Stanford Publishing, 2013) with A. H. J. (Tony) Fleming, the developer of Self-Field Theory. The book presents the first account of the role of Self-Field Theory within biophotonics, applying the theory to the interaction of light with living systems.
Self-Field Theory is an alternative, deterministic reformulation of electromagnetic physics developed by Fleming, which departs from standard quantum mechanics. In this framework the photon is treated as a composite particle with internal structure: it is described as having sub-particles undergoing coupled cyclotron and orbital rotations that provide a dynamic balance of electromagnetic forces, and the theory attempts to derive an analytic estimate for the mass and internal structure of the photon and to model the hydrogen atom. These ideas lie outside the scientific mainstream, which treats the photon as an elementary, massless quantum of the electromagnetic field.
