Donald Wortzman is an American electrical engineer and author known for developing the "Gyroverse," a proposed unified theory of physics presented in his 2010 book The Gyroverse: The Hidden Structure of the Universe. Based in West Palm Beach, Florida, he is a member of the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches.

Biography

Wortzman received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. He also completed the coursework toward a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics at New York University. He spent most of his working life in the field of engineering design, and was employed for many years at IBM, where he received numerous patents for his work.

Over the course of his career he presented original research papers on a range of technical subjects at scientific conferences, including those sponsored by the New York Academy of Sciences, the Annual Conference on Engineering in Medicine and Biology, the Numerical Control Society, and the Eastern Joint Computer Conference. In addition to his technical writing, he authored the historical fiction novel Daughters of Ishtar: Theology and Science in an Escapade of Intrigue. He has given talks on his ideas at bookstores, libraries, and organizations such as Rotary clubs.

Work

Wortzman's principal theoretical work, The Gyroverse: The Hidden Structure of the Universe, presents what he describes as an original theory intended to unify physics by relating the forces of nature within a single framework. The model proposes a helical, multi-dimensional structure of the universe and offers interpretations of phenomena such as particle spin, quantum entanglement, and antimatter, along with an account that he relates to quantum mechanics, relativity, and cosmology. In the model, the natural forces are described as operating through pushing mechanisms rather than attraction, and matter is characterized in terms of mass moving at the speed of light. The book was published in 2010.
