Diogenes Aybar is a Dominican researcher known for the "EMG (electro-magneto-gravitational) theory of the photon", a proposed extension of classical electromagnetism. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Aybar first published his theory in Spanish as Teoría EMG del Fotón through the Academia de Ciencias de la República Dominicana in 1994, later presenting an English version, "The EMG Theory of the Photon", in the Journal of Theoretics. In it he argues that Maxwell's equations are incomplete and, as usually stated, violate the conservation of energy; he proposes adding further equations so that the light wave carries a gravitational component directed along its motion, which he associates with the Compton effect. The theory also postulates the emergence of a graviton from the destructive interference of two collinear photons.
These claims represent a proposed revision of established electromagnetic theory and lie outside the accepted physics mainstream. Aybar has also participated in foundational-physics discussions, including essay forums hosted by the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi).
