Christian Opdal Eid is a Norwegian researcher based in Oslo, Norway, affiliated with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He is known for work applying antenna and electromagnetic-wave theory to problems in gravity and cosmic radiation, including a modern reformulation of Le Sage push-gravitation and a proposed cosmic-radiation explanation for the Hessdalen light phenomena.

Work
Eid's research applies concepts from radio and antenna engineering to questions in fundamental physics.
In his study of gravitation, Eid revisited the mechanical push-gravity model first proposed by Nicolas Fatio de Duillier and later Georges-Louis Le Sage, in which gravity is treated as the result of an imbalance in continuous, uniform streams arriving from all directions. Replacing the historical hypothetical particles with the cosmic radiation fields of modern cosmology, such as the cosmic microwave background, Eid derived the imbalance push force between two bodies using antenna theory and the Friis transmission equation. He reported that, for the model to reproduce planetary orbits, the product of orbital velocity squared and orbital radius must be constant, a condition he related to Kepler's third law.
In a separate study, Eid proposed that the light phenomena observed in the Hessdalen valley in Norway since 1981 could arise from the superposition of cosmic radiation distorted by local variations in the Earth's magnetic field. He suggested that the valley's high mineral concentration, its geological formation, and a mineral-bearing river could contribute to conditions in which incoming cosmic radiation is shifted into the visible spectrum. Eid tested the idea against reported properties of the lights and recommended further investigation of cosmic electromagnetic-wave superposition and cosmic-ray particle collisions as possible sources.
