Chris C. King is a researcher formerly associated with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, known for work spanning mathematical biology, chaos theory, quantum cosmology and consciousness studies. Work
King published "Dual-Time Supercausality" in Physics Essays (vol. 2, no. 2, 1989, pp. 128–151), in which he proposes a model of physical causality extending beyond the standard quantum and classical descriptions. In his account, the usual stochastic quantum model is replaced by two complementary causal processes—a symmetric-time process and a directed-time process—whose mode of interaction is intended to avoid temporal paradox. The proposal draws on the transactional interpretation of quantum mechanics, in which time-symmetric advanced and retarded waves form "transactions."
King has extended these ideas into what he terms transactional and "biocosmology," relating the origin of the universe and of life to the anthropic principle and to a proposed interactive role of conscious observers in cosmological evolution. This body of work lies outside the scientific mainstream and is developed largely through self-published preprints and essays rather than peer-reviewed literature.
