Bernardo Rafael Sotomayor (also published as Bernardo Sotomayor Valdivia) is a Nicaraguan independent researcher and author who writes on theoretical physics, cosmology, and the frameworks he terms Infrarealism and Infophysics. He proposes an Infophysical Spacetime Model as an alternative interpretation of the foundations of physical reality.

Biography

Sotomayor was born in León, Nicaragua. He holds degrees in physics and systems engineering, together with advanced studies in information systems. Early in his career he participated in the United States space program, working on the Viking program at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA) in Pasadena, California. He later spent many years as Chief Technology Officer for various e-commerce start-ups in the United States. As an independent researcher he has published a series of self-issued monographs, several of them released in Jinotepe, Nicaragua, where he resides.

Work

Sotomayor's writings develop what he calls Infrarealism and Infophysics. Central to this work is an infophysical model of spacetime, in which spacetime—described as the set of all observables—is held to be constructed by manifesting wave perturbations onto space, which the model treats as a non-observable medium, and in which spacetime is identified with reality itself. He presents this framework as an attempt to reinterpret features of modern physics such as special relativity, mass–energy equivalence, and the constancy of the speed of light. His ideas are presented in a collection of monographs including Reality Unveiled, Spacetime Unveiled, Special Relativity Unveiled, and Mass–Energy Unveiled.

These proposals are outside the mainstream of accepted physics and represent the author's own theoretical interpretations.
