Bernard Konkin is an independent researcher who describes himself as a self-taught nuclear electrochemist. He works experimentally on electrolysis and electrochemistry and argues that a body of "lost ancient sciences" — in particular the alchemical tradition — anticipated modern chemistry and contains knowledge that has since been forgotten. He has spoken at the ExtraOrdinary Technology Conference organised by Tesla Tech in 2025 and is programmed again for 2026.
Biography
Very little biographical material about Konkin has been published. The TeslaTech 2026 speaker listing describes him as a "self-taught nuclear electrochemist and independent researcher exploring the fundamental behavior of matter through experimental electrochemistry". His own accounts state that he studied physics at Mount Royal University and plasma physics with the Keshe Foundation Spaceship Institute; these are self-reported and no further detail has been located.
He is also known under the handle Crypto Alchemist and has appeared as a repeat guest on independent-research podcasts, including the Leak Project and the Autodidactic Chats interview series.
Research interests
Konkin lists his experimental work as covering electrolysis and chemistry, cold fusion, plasma-state materials, monoatomic elements, transmutations, over-unity physics and systems, and what he calls the spiritual sciences. He is a self-described alchemist and takes the alchemical corpus seriously as a technical literature rather than as superstition.
Lost ancient sciences
The theme of his 2025 conference talk is that modern chemistry is rooted in ancient alchemical research — a practice directed at purifying, maturing and perfecting materials, whose stated aims included the transmutation of base metals into noble metals, the preparation of an elixir of life, and the development of universal remedies. On his account, a real body of technical knowledge underlies these traditions and has been lost or discarded rather than disproved, and it is worth recovering experimentally. This is his position, not an established historical finding; his associated interests in "antiquitech" and in alternative reconstructions of history are likewise his own.
Hydrogen
His more recent work centres on hydrogen. His 2026 TeslaTech session, "Hydrogen: The Blueprint of Creation", is described by the conference as "a bold exploration of hydrogen's role in the formation of elements, energy systems, and the deeper mechanics of light and matter". The claim, as the programme presents it, is that hydrogen is not merely the lightest element but the structural basis from which the other elements and the behaviour of light and matter are to be understood. No published technical exposition of this position has been located, and the material below the title should be treated as announced rather than documented.
