Overview

Carroll presents what he offers as elementary "solutions" to Fermat's Last Theorem — the famous conjecture (that xn + yn = zn has no positive-integer solutions for n > 2) which Fermat claimed to have proved but for which no proof was then known. Such short, elementary claims of proof were common before the theorem's actual proof; the accepted proof, by Andrew Wiles, appeared only in 1994 and is highly advanced, so elementary "solutions" of this kind are not regarded as valid.

About the author

Robert L. Carroll was an American independent researcher and founder of the Carroll Research Institute, who also wrote on cosmology (The Eternity Equation).
