It is one of the largest categories on this wiki, and one of the most varied in rigour. It includes careful calorimetry and replication work alongside device claims that have never been independently tested. Readers should treat individual entries on their merits.

The standing objection to the over-unity claims is thermodynamic: energy conservation is among the best-tested principles in physics. Researchers here reply variously that their devices are not closed systems but draw on an external reservoir — the vacuum field, the aether, or ambient environmental energy — and that this is no more a violation than a windmill is.
