Abstract
Engine-like and lasing chemical objects erupted by volcanoes are not ?lightnings.? They may be an unknown state of matter opposite to plasmas and can rise through sea water from submarine volcanic vents. Presented here is an historical account of ball lightning, or fireball activity. Dr. Bach's term for the lightnings is ?gorgons.?
