Abstract

Maxwell’s displacement current is invariably introduced in university courses in connection with the electric capacitor circuit, yet that is not the way Maxwell himself derived the concept. This article will firstly examine the way that Maxwell originally introduced displacement current. It will then recap on the textbook derivation, and this will be followed by a detailed examination of how displacement current relates to electromagnetic induction and electromagnetic radiation in deep space, far from any laboratory electrical apparatus. https://www.gsjournal.net/Science-Journals/Research%20Papers-Mechanics%20/%20Electrodynamics/Download/8077
