Steven Ward Sr (Steven Wayne Ward, Sr.) is an American independent inventor and researcher who claims the discovery of a distinct component of the magnetic field which he calls the Wardforce, and who is the inventor of record on US Patent 7,531,930, "Energy producing magnetic converter." He presents his work in the free-energy and antigravity strand of the Tesla Technology community. He is unrelated to Daniel Ward and Sonne Ward, also documented on this wiki.

Wardforce
Ward defines Wardforce as "the force part of the magnetic field that controls forward and backward motion, attraction and repelling" — a force, on his account, rather than a property of the poles, and one he holds has been isolated from the north and south poles. He connects it to the definition of current as, in his phrasing, "the Magnetic Field in motion": whatever controls that motion is Wardforce. Ward regards the patent as the practical evidence for the claim, noting that patent offices will not grant perpetual-motion applications and stating: "I had to prove that Wardforce existed, before the USPTO would accept my application for US Patent 7531930."
Energy producing magnetic converter
US Patent 7,531,930 was filed on 4 May 2006 and granted on 12 May 2009 to Steven Wayne Ward, Sr. as an individual inventor. Its abstract describes a converter "that outputs both electrical and mechanical energy," comprising a controller assembly rotatably secured between field coil assemblies and magnets; as the controller assembly rotates, current is generated in the field coils and counter-magnetic fields are induced around them, and the counterforce between the magnets' fields and those counter-magnetic fields is said to cause and maintain forward rotational motion, so that the device outputs torque in addition to current. Ward presents the patent as "only one very small benefit from the discovery of Wardforce."
Antigravity claims
Ward claims that gravity and antigravity can be defined by duplication on a laboratory bench, that space travel can be demonstrated at that scale, and — in his own words — that the work "proves that gravity can be made." He argues for the significance of this to the space programme, and stresses that his demonstrations are built from scrap: "I can demonstrate energy from magnets using junk... Imagine what could be done with the proper resources and personnel." These are Ward's own claims for his apparatus, presented as demonstrations at conference; they have not been independently replicated in the mainstream literature.
