Michael Armstrong is an American independent researcher, lecturer, and video producer based in Portland, Oregon, who is known for his work within the Electric Universe movement and as a proponent of the Saturnian reconstruction model of ancient planetary catastrophe.

Biography

Armstrong holds a formal science background in chemistry. He has studied the catastrophism reconstruction model for more than forty years and became one of the original members of the editorial staff of the Thunderbolts Project (thunderbolts.info). During the early period of that project he worked alongside figures associated with the Electric Universe and catastrophism communities, including David Talbott and Wal Thornhill.

He has lectured on catastrophism, presenting material at an international conference sponsored by the province of Milano, Italy, and hosted by the University of Milano/Bergamo. Armstrong works as a producer of video material and as a publisher of newsletters and multimedia on the subjects of catastrophism and the Electric Universe.

Work

Armstrong is associated with the Electric Universe model, which holds that electromagnetic forces play a far larger role in the structure and behavior of the cosmos than is recognized in conventional gravity-based cosmology. He is a proponent of the Saturnian reconstruction (or "polar configuration") model, an alternative interpretation of ancient sky mythology which proposes that Earth once shared a close configuration with Saturn, Venus, and Mars.

Much of Armstrong's presented work concerns the cultural and human consequences of proposed episodes of solar system instability. In his 2015 Electric Universe conference talk, "The 'Culture Shock' of Planetary Catastrophe," he examined the broad spectrum of human and cultural effects said to have followed from episodic catastrophe, including environmental impacts, changes in human behavior, and shifts in cultural orientation and thought.
