Franck Delplace is a researcher known for proposing that spacetime behaves as a highly viscous liquid, a modern revival of the aether concept intended as a route to unifying physics. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
In his paper "Liquid Space Time, a Way to Unify Physics" (General Science Journal, 2014; also published in Infinite Energy magazine, issue 124), Delplace argues that spacetime should be treated as a fluid rather than empty void. He proposes that a single dynamic viscosity value can be derived from both Einstein's general relativity and Planck's equations, and reports that these calculations yield a spacetime that is a highly viscous liquid. He relates the stresses produced by bodies at atomic and astronomical scales to this viscosity, and invokes work such as Gravity Probe measurements, Padmanabhan's hydrodynamic treatment of spacetime, and a generalized Maupertuis–Fermat principle in support of the idea.
These proposals lie outside the scientific mainstream, which treats spacetime as a geometric structure rather than a material fluid.
