David Zareski is a researcher known for developing an "ether elasticity theory" in which physical fields, particles and quantum effects are interpreted as elastic phenomena of a material ether. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ether elasticity theory
Zareski proposes that the ether is an elastic medium described by point relative displacements governed by a Navier–Stokes–Durand equation together with continuity and divergence conditions. From this framework he argues that the classical fields, the constitution of particles, the electron spin, the "strong nuclear interaction" and quantum effects can all be derived, and that electromagnetism emerges as a property of the elastic medium. This revival of a mechanical ether stands outside mainstream twentieth-century physics, which discarded the luminiferous ether following special relativity.
He has presented this work in Physics Essays and in a series of papers, including "The Quantum Mechanics as Also a Case of the Ether Elasticity Theory" (2014) and "The Electron Spin as Resulting From the Ether Elasticity," as well as the book Unification of Physics by the Ether Elasticity Theory (2015).
