Corneliu Ciubotariu is a Romanian physicist known for work in theoretical physics and gravitation, and for contributions to the higher-symmetry electrodynamics associated with Myron W. Evans. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Ciubotariu has been associated with the Physics Department of the Technical University of Iași, Romania, and has also worked at the University of Stuttgart. His mainstream-published research includes papers in General Relativity and Gravitation, such as work on plasma, gravitation and force-free geometries and on the possible existence of a gravitational analogue to the Meissner effect.
He is a co-author of the paper "Explanation of the Motionless Electromagnetic Generator with O(3) Electrodynamics" (Foundations of Physics Letters, 2001), part of a body of work by Evans, Thomas Bearden and collaborators. That work proposes, using O(3) ("higher-symmetry") electrodynamics, that the motionless electromagnetic generator (MEG) device draws magnetic energy from the vacuum. These claims of over-unity energy extraction and the underlying O(3) and Einstein–Cartan–Evans framework lie outside the scientific mainstream and have been the subject of published criticism.
