Sal La Duca is an American environmental consultant and independent researcher, known for his work on electromagnetic fields (EMF) and indoor environmental quality in the built environment. He is the principal of Environmental Assay, Inc., a consultancy long associated with Phillipsburg, New Jersey, United States. He is listed among the scientists catalogued in the Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Education
La Duca began his technical career in the United States Navy as a nuclear reactor operator and instrumentation and control technician aboard the USS Mississippi. After his discharge he was employed by Jersey Central Power and Light, where he helped establish a radiological survey instrument repair facility at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Forked River, New Jersey. He subsequently worked with communications systems and supervisory equipment used in power control operations, accumulating more than four decades of experience in instrumentation and controls.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix and a First Class FCC License with Radar Endorsement.
Work
In 1994 La Duca incorporated Environmental Assay, Inc. and began offering electromagnetic field assessment services to clients. In 1999 he obtained additional training with the Institute of Building Biology and Ecology, expanding the firm's services to include indoor air quality. His consulting practice covers EMF investigations, analysis of power system operation and stray currents, harmonics metering (so-called "dirty electricity"), and identification of EMF and air quality irritants in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
La Duca is critical of unscientific EMF remedies, arguing that products marketed as "harmonizers", "balancers" and "resonators" are ineffective, and advocating instead for measurement-based assessment and remediation. He is the author of Electric Hostage, an illustrated guide to the major categories of EMF exposure that includes field measurement probes and test protocols.
He has spoken on electricity, EMF and indoor environmental quality on the IAQ Radio program and at the Healthy Buildings Summit.
Honors
La Duca has held professional certifications including Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC), Certified Indoor Environmentalist and later Council-Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) with the Indoor Air Quality Association, and Radio Frequency Safety Officer (RFSO).
