Nadezhda "Nadia" Lvov (born 1974) is a Russian-American physicist and educator. She is a professor in the Physics Department at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, and her theoretical work is concerned with the classical theory of the ether and its application to astronomy.

Biography

Lvov was born in 1974 in Moscow, Russia. She earned a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 1996 she immigrated to the United States, and in 1997 she was admitted to the Graduate School of New York University, where she earned a Master of Science in Physics.

She joined the faculty of Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, where she teaches physics in the Division of Mathematics and Physics and has served as Associate Professor and as Project Director of the college's Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, which supports undergraduate research opportunities for students in the sciences. She holds dual Russian and American citizenship and resides in Newark, New Jersey.

Scientific contributions

Lvov's research addresses the classical theory of the ether and its consequences for the propagation of light, particularly in the context of astronomy. In work presented through the Natural Philosophy Alliance, she has examined the Ritz ballistic theory of light and proposed mechanisms by which the observed speed of light would be adjusted toward the constant value c in the vicinity of the Earth and other celestial bodies. She has also considered the description of the speed of light within a three-dimensional Euclidean framework of space.
