Harold James McWhinnie received his B.A.E. from the Art Institute of Chicago, 1953; M.F.A. from the University of Chicago, 1957; and Ed.D. from Stanford University, 1965. He was Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, at the University of Maryland from 1970 until his retirement in 1997.  He was an artist in ceramics and published several articles in Computers and Graphics.
