David Howells (born 31 March 1945) is a British researcher based in Swansea, Wales, with a background in industrial chemistry and a long-standing personal interest in science and philosophy.

Biography

Howells became a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of Chemistry in 1969. He subsequently spent several years in industrial research, working in particular on the vacuum deposition of high molecular weight polymers. His employer, the British Iron and Steel Research Association (BISRA), was wound up as the United Kingdom's industrial base began to contract during that period. He then left active science and took a desk job with the UK government.

Having had a lifelong interest in science and philosophy, Howells took retirement in 2005 and has since devoted himself to more-or-less full-time personal study in these areas.
