When you search for the answers, you are told that it is the angular momentum, the right hand rule and you are shown some equations. But the explanation is not very clear. This paper suggests that angular momentum is not the best explanation. Rather, linear velocity, cohesion, and gravity are all that is needed to understand the strange movements of the gyroscope.
