Scientific career
FieldsPhysics, foundations of quantum mechanics

Dietmar Wechsler is a researcher known for proposing a "submaterial" interpretation of quantum mechanics. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

Wechsler published the paper "The Submaterial Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics" in the journal Physics Essays (Volume 14, No. 4, December 2001). In it he argues for an interpretation of quantum mechanics that, in his account, cannot be extended to macroscopic bodies, and he offers an associated explanation of atomic energy levels. The proposal lies outside the mainstream interpretations of quantum mechanics.
