This article will firstly examine the way that Maxwell originally introduced displacement current. It will then recap on the textbook derivation, and this will be followed by a detailed examination of how displacement current relates to electromagnetic induction and electromagnetic radiation in deep space, far from any laboratory electrical apparatus.
