Born in Berlin, Germany in 1920, Ush Light emigrated to London in 1933. After he war work at the Road Research Laboratories she resumed her studies, terminating in an MSc degree on plant diseases. She then worked in the MAFF advisory service at Wye. She is married to an Entomologist and they have one daughter. Mrs Light has enjoyed pursuing such diverse interests as astronomy, philosophy, literature and fencing. - Back cover of Time Lords Up a Gum Tree
