The underlying publications are Loeb and Meek, "The Mechanism of Spark Discharge in Air at Atmospheric Pressure", Parts I and II, ''Journal of Applied Physics'' 11, 438 and 459 (1940), and their book ''The Mechanism of the Electric Spark'' (Stanford University Press, 1941). No publication under the present title exists from 1940 or 1941, and it appears to be the journal editor's. Meek was omitted from the catalogue record and has been restored here.
