			Kajfosz was born in 1933 in Czechoslovakia. He graduated from Brno University in 1956 and then joined the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Řež, near Prague, where he remained until 1972 and where he received his PhD degree in 1968. In 1972 he moved to the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Cracow, Poland, working there until 1993. He subsequently settled in Cracow.

			During his time at Řež, Kajfosz carried out research in nuclear spectroscopy, studying beta and gamma radiation using the neutron beam of a nuclear reactor. After moving to Cracow he worked on the application of nuclear methods across various branches of science, in particular Particle-Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) analysis using the proton beam of a cyclotron. He is a coauthor of more than 100 published scientific papers. Together with W. Kwiatek he developed a widely cited method for the non-polynomial approximation of the background in X-ray spectra, a technique used in the fitting and analysis of PIXE data.

			Outside his professional field, Kajfosz has pursued an independent interest in particle composition and the foundations of physics. Describing himself as neither a theorist nor a particle expert, and treating the subject as a hobby, he has proposed an alternative model of particle composition and interactions and has published a series of papers offering critical remarks on special relativity, the principle of relativity, and the role of the ether.
