			Keller graduated from Scottsbluff High School in Nebraska in 1973 as co-valedictorian and a National Merit Scholar. He has resided in Ames, Iowa. He is also credited as the author of a chapter on optics in a textbook on intraocular lenses.

			Keller is the primary author of the article "Pioneer Probe Generates Space Warp, Disproves Big Bang," published in ''Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology'' in 2002. In it he argued that spacecraft, but not planets, are subject to a constant quasigravitational force related to the Hubble redshift, producing a barrier at roughly 53 astronomical units from the Sun that he associated with the Pioneer anomaly.

			Keller is best known for the "Barbarossa" hypothesis, his proposal that a large undiscovered body, which he named Barbarossa, orbits the Sun at a distance of roughly 200 astronomical units. His investigation was prompted by studies of historical ether-drift experiments and anomalies in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation, which led him to suspect that a massive object lay near the positive direction of the CMB dipole. In February 2007 he reported identifying candidate objects by searching astronomical sky-survey catalogs for discordant magnitude measurements that might indicate a slow-moving body. He has posted his calculations, sky coordinates, and supporting arguments to the "Requiem for Relativity" thread on the Meta Research forum.
