I was appalled by the false theories and ignorance that dominated psychiatry and so resigned my residency to become a general practitioner. 			Lindner grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania and attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He graduated ''Magna Cum Laude'' from [[Jefferson Medical College]] in 1984. He began a residency in psychiatry to pursue his interest in the human mind, but, dissatisfied with the theories that dominated the field, he resigned the residency and became a general medical officer in the United States Air Force. During his Air Force service and afterward he practiced general medicine in Izmir, Turkey, in Denver, Colorado, and later as a physician for United States defense contractors in Saudi Arabia, living overseas for roughly twelve years until 2001.

			From 2004 onward Lindner concentrated his medical practice on the restoration of hormones lost to aging, diagnosing and treating thyroid and cortisol insufficiency in patients he holds are missed by conventional endocrine criteria. He maintains a practice in rural northeastern Pennsylvania and publishes patient-oriented material through his website hormonerestoration.com.
