In 1975 he was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia, where he settled with his wife, Gaby. He retired in 1998.

			Adriaenssens lived for many years in Atlanta and remained active into old age, with interests that included tennis, skiing, sailing, and golf. He and Gaby were married for more than sixty years and had two children and six grandchildren. He died in Atlanta on December 31, 2023, at the age of 94.
