In 1977 he founded the Creation Science Association of South Australia, described as the first formal creationist organisation in Australia. He later served as managing director and CEO of Creation Ministries International (formerly the Australian branch of Answers in Genesis), a creationist apologetics ministry, until his retirement from active ministry in 2015. He stopped practising medicine in the 1980s following a serious road accident.<br /> <br /> ==Ideas==<br /> Wieland promotes young-earth creationism, rejecting both biological evolution and mainstream cosmology.
