			Nielsen challenges several foundations of modern physics and cosmology. He argues that the [[Big Bang]] represents a logical impossibility and that Einstein's theories of relativity rest on a flawed experimental basis. In particular, he contends that the [[Michelson-Morley]] experiment, while ingeniously conceived, was dynamically and geometrically incorrect in its assumptions and implementation. On the basis of a 2008 experiment, later revised in 2011, he has proposed that light consists of waves propagating in an intergalactic, interstellar and interplanetary medium, reviving the idea of a luminiferous [[aether]].

			He set out these views in ''Klogere end Einstein? En ny model for Universet'', a 301-page hardbound volume with 38 illustrations, which he published in 2008 through his own publishing company, Antagonica, after commercial publishers declined the work. The book is described as a critical examination of what its author regards as myths in natural science, particularly the Big Bang. Nielsen's positions fall outside the scientific mainstream and have not been accepted by the broader physics community.
