He is a visiting professor at Chongqing University in China and has published extensively on models of the Big Bang, relic gravitational waves and the transfer of information between cosmological cycles.

			Beckwith studied mathematics and physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and earned a Master of Science in applied mathematics from the University of Arizona. He completed a Ph.D. in physics at the University of Houston, where his work was carried out through the Texas Center for Superconductivity. His 2002 doctoral dissertation, ''Classical and Quantum Models of Density Wave Transport: A Comparative Study'', addressed charge-density-wave and domain-wall physics.

			In 2009 he was appointed a senior scientific researcher for GravWave LLC, working on the detection of high-frequency relic gravitational waves. He subsequently became a visiting professor at Chongqing University in China, collaborating on gravitational-wave physics and cosmological models of the early universe. He has served as an editor of the ''Journal of High Energy Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology'' and as an associate editor of the journal ''Galaxies''.

			Beckwith's research spans several fields. In condensed matter physics he studied charge-density-wave and domain-wall transport, the subject of his doctoral work. In cosmology and gravitation he has examined entropy growth in the early universe, models of emergent gravity, and the minimum amount of information that would need to be transferred from a prior universe to a present one in order to preserve the structure of physical law. A recurring theme in his work is the use of high-frequency relic gravitational waves as probes of Big Bang physics and possible physics beyond the Standard Model. He has authored a large number of papers distributed through preprint repositories such as arXiv and viXra and through peer-reviewed journals.
