"Who is a Philosopher?" is an article by Glenn Borchardt published on 19 March 2019 on Beyond Mainstream.
Answering a reader who objected that philosophy has no accepted definition, Borchardt offers one: the study and understanding of how the universe works. On that definition everyone is a philosopher, as everyone is a scientist — the opening claim of his book The Scientific Worldview — and infants begin the work early. What differs is scope: most people are occupied with subsistence and their philosophy extends no further than daily circumstances, while free time allows the question to be pushed further.
