Zeng Qingping (Chinese: 曾清平), also rendered Qing Zeng, born January 14, 1958, is a Chinese physicist and a professor at the Air Force Radar Academy of the People's Liberation Army. He is known within the dissident-science community for his critical writings on the Maxwell curl field theory, electromagnetic induction, the constancy of the speed of light, and special relativity.

Biography

Zeng was born in Yuechi County, Guang'an City, Sichuan province, China. From 1979 to 1983 he studied at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, where he received his college education. He later became a professor at the Air Force Radar Academy of the People's Liberation Army, based in Wuhan, Hubei province.

Scientific contributions

Zeng states that his questioning of established physical theory began during his university years, prompted by his physics teacher and by discussion among his classmates during China's "Spring of Science" period. From 1998 onward he published a series of papers that questioned the Maxwell curl field theory and identified what he considered to be errors in its origins.

His work argues that disputes exist in the physical interpretation of electromagnetic induction, in the measurement of the speed of light, and in conceptions of space and time. Among the positions set out in his papers are that the speed of light obeys the Galilean principle of relativity, that the Compton effect can be described by Newton's laws, and that the Lorentz transformation used in special relativity is, in his view, a mathematical construction rather than a physical law. He gathered these ideas, which he says were formed before the year 2000, into a book-length treatment.

That book was submitted to Science Press and evaluated by the National Science and Technology Academic Publishing Foundation. Its publication was delayed for more than a year before appearing; the manuscript was revised and prepared over the preceding two years, in November 2007.
