"Financing the Birth of Regressive Physics" is an article by Glenn Borchardt published on 21 January 2020 on Beyond Mainstream, reprinted from his Scientific Worldview blog.

Borchardt argues that the direction of physics follows its funding: in the United States money for science passes through Congress, the executive branch or wealthy donors, and he holds that none of these will underwrite work that undermines religious assumptions. He quotes the founding principles of the Natural Philosophy Alliance written by John E Chappell — in particular the warning not to assume that if special relativity were invalid the establishment would long since have discovered it — and argues that critics capable of mounting sound arguments were never allowed to flourish inside it.
