"Eureka and the Mandelbrot Set" is an autobiographical article by Lori Anne Gardi published on 6 April 2019 on Beyond Mainstream.

Gardi dates her first eureka moment to 1985, when Scientific American published the algorithm for the Mandelbrot Set in A. K. Dewdney's Computer Recreations column. Getting the program running on a Commodore 64 left her more amazed still: that so simple a formula and so few lines of code could generate such intricate complexity suggested to her that comparably simple rules might underlie the structure of the universe.
