David Dameron is a researcher known for experimental and theoretical work on the Marinov Motor, a controversial electromagnetic device whose operation is claimed to be difficult to reconcile with the conventional Lorentz force law. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Dameron published "Flux Leakage Tests for the Marinov Motor" in the journal Apeiron (Vol. 7, No. 3–4, 2000), reporting a series of tests intended to evaluate the effect of magnetic flux leakage on the motor's behaviour. He concludes that leakage may play a significant part in the observed effect but does not fully account for the motor's operation. A related study appeared in Physics Essays, extending the analysis to the electromotive aspects of the device and the question of a nonzero electric field arising from a direct current in a stationary conductor.
His work follows a line of investigation into the Marinov Motor pursued by researchers such as Thomas Phipps and J. P. Wesley, who argue that the device poses difficulties for standard electrodynamics. These positions lie outside the physics mainstream.
